The Selfless Gene

When I ordered “The Selfless Gene” by Charles Foster, I am not sure what I was expecting. The content was interesting, and extremely detailed. Foster analyzed and compared the evolutionary theories with the Creation stories in Genesis 1 and 2. He examined scientific data, thoroughly discussed common assertions and weighed evidence.

Foster sets out to discredit extremist views on either side of the evolution vs. creation debate. Scientific explanations were very detailed. I learned quite a bit more than I had in my high school or college science classes. Sources were noted. I found the text often difficult to read. It required some concentration to follow the science and the logical conclusions that Foster was aiming for.

While I am pretty sure I will not remember all that I learned while reading, I will likely refer to some of the ideas whenever the evolution vs. creation debate rises, and follow up with the additional sources provided. I would recommend this book to readers who are interested in the creation discussion, but only if the reader has an excellent attention span and enjoys debate.
